FRINGE Classes

Here at Fringe we have excellent instructors to help with your special project.  Check back often because our classes offered change frequently.  
Cancellation policy reminder - you must pay for a class in order to reserve your space.  In order to be refunded your class tuition, either the class must be cancelled, rescheduled, or you must let us know 48 hrs in advance to allow us time to contact anyone on the waiting list. Sewing/Quilting Classes

FABULOUS FRINGE TOTE

Whether you’re a beginner, or just need to brush up on your sewing machine skills, this class is for you. Make the Fabulous Fringe Tote while learning the basics of using your (or ours with use fee) sewing machine. Skill Level: Beginning with some experience running a sewing machine Sunday February 26 from 1- 5pm Fee: $27

RAGGEDY FLANNEL THROW

Have you used the AccuQuilt GO? We’ll quickly cut our fringed squares using it, and then assemble them into this throw! Bet you can’t make just one!

GET THE POINT? BAG

This oversized on-point bag is made with a Layer Cake – that’s a stack of 10" square pre-cuts- ready to sew. The bag takes 32 of the stack, so you’ll have enough left over to make a throw pillow or two. Great for an overnight bag, or for a laundry bag In the dorm! Sunday March 4 from Noon - 5pm Level of Difficulty: Beginner Fee: $27

TURNING TWENTY, AGAIN

This class is a great place to start quilting. We’ll cover rotary cutting, machine piecing, and the importance of accuracy in sewing. We’ll talk about hand quilting and machine quilting, as well as binding. At the completion of the class you’ll have a top ready to quilt – but we won’t quilt it. We will discuss your options, and will do a follow up to apply the binding, by appointment. Skill Level: Advanced Beginner at using a sewing machine Saturday(s) March 10 and 17 from Noon - 5pm Fee: $36

MACHINE QUILTING

Here’s your chance to learn the ins and outs of machine quilting, with a variety of combinations of curves. Skill Level: Advanced Beginner at using a sewing machine Sunday March 18 from Noon - 4pm Fee: $36

EVENING UFO with SUSIE

3rd Thursday   6 to 9 p.m.                         $15.00 per session
Come for expert help and get past whatever is keeping you from finishing your
projects.  Please sign up at least 24 hr. in advance so we know how many to expect.

AFTERNOON UFO with SUSIE

3rd Friday  1 - 4 p.m.                                     $15.00 per session
Can't make it on a Thursday evening?  Susie is here to help you finish those
projects in the afternoon too!   Please sign up at least 24 hr. in advance so we know how many to expect.

SOCIAL SEWING

1st Monday  1 -4 p.m. and 6 - 9 p.m.        No Charge
  This is a time to sew with friends. No instruction is offered, just company while you work on your current project. (Although there is no charge for social sewing, please sign up so we know how to plan.)

American Girl Doll Clothes Club

Join the fun and make a whole wardrobe of clothes for that special little girl’s best friend, her 18" doll. This is an intermediate sewing class for those with some garment sewing experience. After paying for the first class all future classes may be taken at no charge. Skill Level: Intermediate Sewing Tuesday February 28 (OR)   March 27 1 from 1- 5pm Fee: $27

BOM with SUSIE and JODI

This year we’ll make our Block Of the Month quilt from the book Jelly Roll Sampler Quilts by Pam and Nicky Lintott. We’ll start in February, and by the end of class time in November, your quilt top will be ready to be quilted by yourself or your favorite longarm quilter. If you’d like, you may then schedule a time to come back in and work on your binding. (We will not meet in June or July since those months seem to be too busy for us all!) Skill Level: Comfortable beginner with sewing machine. (We will be learning a few new techniques involving simple angles!) Thursday(s) February 23 and March 22 from 6-9pm (OR)
Tuesday(s) February 28 and March 27 from 1-4pm Fee: $10 per session (OR) $64 for the full program at once (That’s a 20% savings!)

CAPPUCHINO NECK/SHOULDER WARMER FROM DROPS

Find yourself needing just a little something on your shoulders this time of year but don’t want to keep fiddling with a shawl, try this knit-in-the-round neck and shoulder warmer. The English Rib stitch works up beautifully and the stitch count stays the same throughout the project. Skill Level: Advanced Beginner Thursday, February 23 from 1-3:30pm Fee: $22.50

CLAPOTIS

This is one of my favorite and most versatile knitted shawls--I actually have two! The fun repeatable pattern has just enough interest to keep it from getting boring. Skill Level: Knitting advanced beginner (must know how to cast-on, knit and purl) Friday February 24 from 1-4pm Fee: $30

QUICK RASTA BRIMMED HAT

Join us in knitting this fun cozy hat with a tied knot on the brim. It's a great way to use one skein of beautiful Malabrigo Rasta yarn. Skill Level: Knitting advanced beginner-- a great way to learn one way to do a provisional cast-on Monday(s) February 27 and March 12 from 1-3 pm  Fee: $40

CHUNKY CABLE MITTENS

These chunky mittens are super cute and knit up quickly. If you haven't made a mitten with a gusset --this is a great project to start with. The samples have a long cuff but you can make yours whatever length you like.

Skill Level: Knitting intermediate (experience with knitting on double points or feeling up to the challenge) Wednesday(s), March 7 and 21 from 1:30-3:30pm Fee: $40

KNITTING LEVEL 1

This is the primer class in what will be a series of classes to evolve your knitting skills, but first – you must learn to knit. In this class you will learn the long-tail cast-on, the knit and purl stitches and to bind off to complete your work. Are you Left-handed – Kristi knits both left and right handed and is happy to teach you either version. If you already know how to do these things, look for Level 2 coming soon. Skill Level: Beginner Monday(s) March 12 and 19 from 1-3pm Fee: $36

CHUNKY CABLE COWL/INFINITY SCARF

KNITTED AND FELTED SLIPPERS with PJ BERGEN

Knit a pair of slippers that are very, very BIG.  Throw them into a washing machine and shrink them down to the size desired for a comfortable, colorful pair of slippers!  Attendees will learn knitting techniques to make 3-dimensional objects and skills to felt knitted projects in a washing machine.  The slippers make a great gift for others and yourself.  March 15,22 & April 5.  Fee:  $72
